EXTREMA RATIO This 39-09 Operativo replica was sponsored by the Italian C.O.F.S. (Comando Operativo Forze Speciali) and its Commander, Gen. Bertolini. Many international knife collectors also encouraged the 39-09's development. This knife is a restyled replica of the famous, "Pugnale da paracadutista assaltatore model 1939" - a classic knife that is considered an Italian Military History masterpiece.
New military spec materials and processes have been followed in the production phases. The classic shape, structure and proportions of the original model have been preserved but the updated 39-09 Operativo replica is now stronger and more functional. A great knife for the collector. Plus this new version of an old favorite is very competitive against the best modern tactical knives.
The 39-09 comes with a new double sheath style. The outer sheath is a Nylon soft sheath with straps. Inside there is a hard sheath made of a Nylon composite with 15% Fiberglass. This is where the blade actually sits. The 39-09 double sheath is designed to be strapped to the calf as is the style of Italian parachutists.
You can remove the hard inner sheath and attach an Extrema Ratio belt clip (not included) for a more compact carry. This ingeniously designed clip allows you to carry the hard sheath (without the soft sheath) on your belt or attached to a backpack. See "EXTREMA RATIO BELT CLIP" section for more information.
NOTE: The 39-09 has a tightly fitted inner sheath. The 39-09 is a knife that has been designed for an Italian military group. Extrema Ratio has followed their instructions in manufacturing the 39-09. The military wanted a tight retention system so the knife was difficult to remove from the sheath for safety reasons.
